Which One Should You Buy?
The XGIMI Elfin Flip 4K and XGIMI Z9X 4K look remarkably similar, and it’s easy to see why they could be considered global and Chinese versions of the same projector. Both offer 4K resolution, RGB triple-laser technology, 1,600 ISO lumens of brightness, and the same 0.98–1.3:1 optical zoom. However, there are some important differences under the hood.
For me, the XGIMI Z9X 4K is the more interesting option from a hardware perspective. It comes with a MediaTek MT9681 processor and 3GB of RAM, compared to the MT9660 processor and 2GB of RAM in the XGIMI Elfin Flip 4K. Both have 64GB of storage, but the extra RAM gives the Z9X an advantage on paper, especially when it comes to handling multiple apps and everyday tasks.
Another important difference is the operating system. The XGIMI Elfin Flip 4K comes with Google TV, which is much more convenient for international users who rely on familiar streaming apps and services. The XGIMI Z9X 4K runs GMUI 6.0, designed primarily for the Chinese market, so you may need to spend some time configuring it to work the way you want.
Price is another reason to consider the Chinese model. At the listed prices, the XGIMI Z9X 4K costs around $699, while the XGIMI Elfin Flip 4K is listed at $849. That’s a $150 difference, which makes the XGIMI Z9X particularly attractive considering its hardware advantages.
So, which one would I choose? I’d go with the XGIMI Z9X 4K. It offers more RAM, a different processor, and a lower price while maintaining very similar core projection specifications. The main reason to choose the XGIMI Elfin Flip 4K instead is its Google TV system, which provides a much more straightforward experience for international users.
