Which One Should You Buy?
The Dangbei X9 Ultra and Hisense Vidda C5 Ultra are both powerful 4K laser projectors, but they have different strengths that make each one appealing for different types of users.
For me, the Hisense Vidda C5 Ultra is the better overall home theater projector. It offers a higher listed contrast ratio of 6000:1 compared to 1600:1 on the Dangbei X9 Ultra, along with variable aperture control, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, IMAX support, and a more powerful JBL speaker system with a dedicated subwoofer. It also has 4GB of RAM and Wi-Fi 7, compared to 3GB of RAM and Wi-Fi 6 on the Dangbei.
However, the Dangbei X9 Ultra is the better choice if brightness and value for money are your priorities. It is rated at 5600 CVIA lumens, compared to 4400 CVIA lumens on the Hisense, and its wider lens-shift range makes it easier to accommodate different room layouts. At the listed prices, it also saves you around $261.
Ultimately, I’d choose the Hisense Vidda C5 Ultra for its stronger listed contrast, extensive home theater features, and built-in JBL sound system. But if you watch in a brighter room, need more flexibility when positioning your projector, or simply want to spend less, the Dangbei X9 Ultra is a very compelling alternative.
Both are worth considering, but the right choice depends on whether you value a more cinema-focused feature set or higher brightness and better value.
